Simple daily habits to deepen your faith

By Robert Prater on September 25, 2025

We live in a busy world. Between work, family, and everyday responsibilities, making space for spiritual growth can feel hard. Many of us think deepening our faith requires long, quiet hours of prayer or in-depth Bible study that we simply don’t have time for. But the truth is, spiritual growth isn’t about perfect conditions. It’s small, intentional daily habits that draw us closer to God in the middle of life’s chaos.

Here are a few simple habits you can practice daily to strengthen your walk with Christ,  even in the busiest seasons of life.

Pray without ceasing

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, the apostle Paul tells us to “pray without ceasing.” This doesn’t mean you need to be on your knees 24/7. Instead, it’s about living in constant awareness of God’s presence. Say a quick prayer while driving to work, waiting in line, or folding laundry.

Thank Him for the good, ask for help in the hard, and pause to recognize His presence in ordinary moments. Prayer isn’t about perfect conditions; it’s about ongoing connection.

Start and end the day with connection

Even a short prayer before you get out of bed in the morning or before you fall asleep at night can shape the rhythm of your entire day. Ask God to guide your thoughts, words, and actions in the morning. At night, thank Him for the blessings you noticed and the grace He gave you in the struggles. These small bookends remind you that each day begins and ends with Him.

Extend grace, mercy, and compassion

One of the clearest ways to deepen your faith is by treating others the way Christ has treated you. By definition, grace, mercy, and compassion are undeserved—yet that’s exactly what God offers us. Look for ways to extend kindness when it’s hard, forgive when you’d rather hold a grudge, or show compassion when someone falls short. Each act of undeserved love reflects the heart of Christ and helps your faith grow stronger in practice, not just in theory.

Stay rooted in Scripture

Even if you can’t carve out an hour for Bible study, you can still read God’s Word daily. Try reading one verse each morning and carrying it with you throughout the day. Write it on a sticky note, set it as your phone background, or share it with a friend. Meditating on a single passage can be as impactful as reading a whole chapter, especially if you let it guide your thoughts and actions.

Lean into community

Faith wasn’t meant to be lived out alone. Surround yourself with people who encourage you, pray for you, and walk alongside you. At Mannford Church of Christ, we believe gathering weekly for worship, Bible study, and fellowship is one of the most important habits you can build. It strengthens not only your personal faith but also the entire body of Christ.

Building habits that last

Deepening your faith doesn’t require perfect conditions, long hours, or lofty goals. It happens in the small, daily decisions to pray often, show mercy, read God’s Word, and walk in community. Over time, these simple practices shape your heart, strengthen your soul, and keep you grounded in the love of Christ.

We’d love to encourage you in your faith journey. Join us this Sunday at Mannford Church of Christ as we grow together in faith, love, and service.
