Fireworks in Mannford OK

Grateful for freedom: faith, country, and community

By Robert Prater on July 10, 2025

As July rolls around, we’re reminded of the extraordinary freedoms we enjoy as Americans. It’s a time for fireworks, cookouts, family gatherings—and for reflecting on blessings we sometimes take for granted. At the top of that list? The freedom to practice our faith openly and without fear.

At Mannford Church of Christ, we’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to worship freely, come together as a community, and share our faith and values. These are freedoms we hold dear—freedoms many around the world still long for.

But we also recognize this: Freedom in our nation isn’t just about our own rights. It includes the freedom—and the responsibility—to respect and care for one another, even when we disagree. Our nation is beautifully diverse, filled with people who see the world from countless different perspectives. And here’s something we passionately believe:

No matter your politics, background, or beliefs—there is a place for you here at Mannford Church of Christ.

Gratitude for freedom of faith

Being able to openly gather, pray, sing, and study God’s Word together is a freedom we never want to take for granted. Each time we step through our doors, open our Bibles, and share in fellowship, we thank God for the privilege of religious freedom.

This freedom allows us to build community, support one another, and offer encouragement—out loud and in the open. It’s a gift we treasure daily.

Loving our neighbors in all seasons

We live in a complex world full of diverse beliefs and opinions. At Mannford Church, we believe it’s not only possible—but essential—to remain loving, patient, and welcoming in the midst of those differences.

Our commitment to love isn’t dependent on agreement. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:39), and that includes those who see things differently. That kind of love is radical. And it’s needed now more than ever.

Simple summer joys and shared spaces

As the summer heat builds, Oklahoma offers simple reminders of God’s beauty—and opportunities to enjoy it together. Shaded trails like those at Keystone Ancient Forest or Walnut Creek State Park are perfect for cooling off, taking a walk, or sharing a picnic.

These nearby escapes are just one more reminder that even in the hottest seasons, refreshment is possible. Sometimes, all it takes is a step off the beaten path—and maybe a little community to walk with.

An invitation to belong

If you’re looking for a church home—where your story is welcome, your questions are okay, and kindness outweighs differences—we invite you to visit Mannford Church of Christ.

We’re committed to creating a space where unity in Christ is greater than anything that might divide us. Here, you’ll find people who care—not just about God, but about you.

As we celebrate the freedoms we’ve been given, let’s also celebrate the opportunity to build a community marked by love, grace, and mutual respect.
